Captain Marvel box office predictions will make Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Deadpool and Wonder Woman run for covers

Captain Marvel is Marvel Studios first female-led superhero movie. The Brie Larson starrer is all set to tell the tale of Carol Danvers and her journey into Avengers: Endgame. While we’re still more than a month away from the movie’s release, box office analysts are already on their toes predicting the numbers. And they have predicted a jaw-dropping number for Captain Marvel’s opening weekend collection. As per BoxOffice.com, Captain Marvel will pose a whopping $160 million opening weekend collections in March. The site notes that there has been a 14 per cent increase in the predictions. Earlier, the movie was tracking a $140 million collection at the US box office alone.

At this rate, the movie will easily surpass Wonder Woman’s opening weekend box office collection. The DC movie opened to a monstrous $101 million on the domestic front. Not only that, Cap Marvel will also beat in house superhero movies as well. Given the current pace, it will surpass several Marvel superhero movies like Iron Man, which opened to $98.6 million, Doctor Strange that posed an opening of $85 million, Thor which recorded $65.7 million opening weekend collection, Deadpool’s $132 million and Man of Steel’s $116.6 million.

It could also beat Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’s $146.5 million collection. However, Captain Marvel is still tracking behind Captain America: Civil War mind-blowing $179.1 million. If these numbers are met, it will be a great start to Marvel Studios at the box office in 2019.

Captain Marvel will benefit from Avengers: Endgame’s hype. One factor which will drive audiences to the theatres is that the movie enters cinemas about a month and half before this year’s most anticipated movie, Avengers: Endgame. Fans will walk in to make sure they don’t miss out on hints and Easter eggs.

Like Wonder Woman, if Captain Marvel earns good reviews, it will benefit Marvel further. The studio has three big movies releasing this year. They open their box office account with Captain Marvel, followed by Avengers: Endgame in April and rounding off the year with Spider-Man: Far From Home.
